The settings menu is your battery's best friend

The settings menu is your battery's best friend

Most mobile games ship with everything cranked to maximum, and that's usually the fastest way to drain your battery. The good news is that a few toggles can buy you a lot of extra play time without ruining the experience.

Start with the frame rate cap. Dropping from 60 to 30 frames per second is barely noticeable in slower games and can meaningfully reduce heat and drain. If a game offers it, use it during long sessions.

Next, look for particle or effects settings. All that shimmer and dust looks nice in trailers, but it's expensive to render. Turning it down often makes the least difference to how the game feels and the biggest difference to your battery.

Finally, brightness. It sounds obvious, but the screen is the single hungriest part of your phone. Playing indoors at 60 percent instead of full is an easy win. Combine these three and you'll often double how long you can play on a charge.
